SMART MOBILITY
Project designed for the post-2030 city

CONCEPT
The Toula project stems from a vision of a sustainable Genoa in 2030, characterized by extensive pedestrian areas and a reduced road infrastructure. Developed as a concept car for smart mobility, the project explores new paradigms of urban transportation. It is a monovolume designed to reach a maximum speed of 50 km/h, conceived to promote inclusivity. The vehicle is integrated into a connected road ecosystem enabled by V2X sensors and inductive charging networks embedded in the infrastructure.
DESIGN
The interior of Toula has been carefully designed to optimize space and encourage conviviality among passengers, offering six seats arranged face-to-face, three on each side. Accessibility is a fundamental pillar of the design: the entry is located at the rear and features an automated upward-opening door. A retractable step facilitates access, making the vehicle fully usable even for wheelchair users. The luggage compartment is instead positioned at the front.

TECHNOLOGY AND SAFETY
From a technological perspective, Toula introduces spherical wheels based on magnetic levitation between superconductors. This innovation enables movement in all directions, including lateral and diagonal translations, simplifying maneuvers in confined urban environments. Safety is ensured by an external lighting system featuring a 10 cm-high LED surface that wraps around the vehicle, providing clear visual signals of its motion, especially in low-visibility nighttime conditions.
