Development of advanced bioplastics from olive pits

ROOTS IN THE TERRORY
The Semina project was born from the desire to enhance the essence of the Ligurian territory. By visiting local olive mills, we discovered that olive pits—a remarkable resource with countless properties—were systematically discarded or burned. After extensive reflection, we chose to transform this waste into a genuine promise of growth. Semina is the passionate act of planting an idea in order to let it flourish into a sustainable future, demonstrating that every natural element, when carefully valued, can rediscover its immense worth.
A NEW MATERIAL
Driven by technical curiosity and ethical commitment, we developed a completely new material by combining 75% corn-based PLA with 25% olive pits. This led to a compostable bioplastic that is warm to the touch, insulating, lipophilic, and suitable for both 3D printing and injection molding. This achievement represents a revolution in our product vision, where material is not extracted but regenerated.

A SEED FOR TOMORROW
Through this new material, we developed a sink filter capable of absorbing polluting oils and then being disposed of in organic waste. This enthusiasm led us to collaborate with excellence such as the Carli Company. Our intent is to encourage a profound cultural shift based on responsible behaviours and conscious everyday choices.
